This individual’s faith journey began by reading passages from Gideon’s Bible that he found on a hotel bedside table while traveling. The words started his inquisitive mind to ponder faith, but real clarity came when he read the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. Lewis’s explanation of the truth about God and the Christian faith still resonates with him today. Some notable quotes to him were: “Faith is the art of holding onto things your reason has once accepted, despite your changing moods.”[1] “Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.”[2] His favorite is “fallen man is not simply an imperfect creature who needs improvement: he is a rebel who must lay down his arms… This process of surrender… is what Christians call repentance.”[3]
Be sure to spend time with Lord each day this week.
